Hot Standby Internet

Our Hot Standby Internet sits behind your existing provider and only takes over when your primary connection fails. We install one of our wireless links into your network and connect it to a failover‑capable router.

1. Install wireless backup: We add our wireless connection as a secondary WAN interface on a compatible router or firewall.
2. Failover router options: We can provide and manage the failover router system for you. If you prefer to use your own multi‑WAN/failover‑capable router, that is no problem at all—as long as it supports the necessary failover features.
3. Primary + backup on one router: Your current ISP remains the primary WAN; our wireless link is configured as the standby WAN. Under normal conditions, all traffic uses the primary.
4. Health checks & detection: The router continuously checks the primary connection (for example, via ping or target host monitoring). If these checks fail, the primary is marked as down.
5. Automatic failover: When the primary is down, the router routes outbound traffic over our wireless Hot Standby connection. Your internal LAN and Wi‑Fi remain unchanged.
6. Automatic failback: The router continues to test the primary in the background. Once it is stable again, traffic automatically moves back to the primary, and our wireless link returns to standby.

All of this is automatic—no manual switching is required when an outage occurs or when the primary connection is restored.

 We continuously monitor the Hot Standby connection and associated equipment 24/7. If we detect issues or abnormal behavior, we proactively investigate and work to resolve the problem—often before you are even aware there is an issue.

This monitoring helps ensure that the backup link is ready to take over whenever your primary connection has a problem.

 This service is not intended to be your primary internet connection, so we do not bill it like a full 100 Mbps circuit. Instead, we offer usage‑based plans designed for occasional failover use:

• 50 GB per month – $50
• 100 GB per month – $100
• Overage – $2.00 per GB beyond your included monthly usage

Under normal conditions, almost all traffic stays on your primary ISP. Data on our Hot Standby link is only consumed when:

• Your primary internet is down and failover is active; or
• You or our team run scheduled failover tests.

These plans are optimized for outage protection. If you want to use our service as a full‑time primary connection, we can move you to an unmetered plan (see standard services).

For networks that require a static public IP for firewall rules, VPNs, or security policies, our Hot Standby solution can be delivered with:

• A static public IP address on the Hot Standby connection for consistent addressing and firewall policy requirements.
• Configuration aligned with your firewall and VPN policies so that tunnels, whitelists, and remote access continue to work during failover.
• Optional coordination with your IT/security team to match existing network designs and compliance needs.
